The weekend was about Carob-Syrup
Prime Minister Ersin Tatar, the District Officer of Girne Sinan Güneş, the Mayor of Girne Nidai Güngördü, several MPs and other state officials attended the opening ceremony of the festival over the weekend.
Speaking at the festival, Girne Mayor Nidai Güngördü said that the festival was an important event which raised awareness on carbon production and produces.
He underlined the need to plant more carob trees and that his municipality was currently working on a project to plant more carob trees in public spaces.
Also speaking at the ceremony, Prime Minister Ersin Tatar highlighted the importance of such festivals and of preserving nature in the area.
He said that it was important to see the keen interest of both local producers and the public.
Tatar added that agriculture could be developed with the water brought from Turkey.
A number of cultural events, folklore dance shows and activities took place art the event.(BRT)
