Akacan Remanded for a further 8 days

Businessman Bulut Akacan was remanded in custody for a further 8 days after he was arrested over the weekend for allegedly running an illegal online betting organisation.

Businessman Bulut Akacan was remanded in custody for a further 8 days after he was arrested over the weekend for allegedly running an illegal online betting organisation.

A group of 10 people were arrested before Akacan arrest took place late last week in the offices of FEO where Akacan operations all took place in Girne.

It was reported that the 10 people in custody including Mr Akacans uncle, told the police that the online betting organisation belonged to Bulut Akacan and they were told that everything was legal.

These statements led to the arrest of the colourful businessman Akacan and later his remand in custody for further two days on Friday.

The Kyrenia District court heard the statements by the investigating officer and remanded Bulut Akacan for a further 8 days in order to complete the investigation.

Justice Meltem Dundar, ordered the defendants including Mr Akacan and 8 others to be remanded in custody for a further 8 days.

Ms Gizem Paral who was arrested amongst the other 10 was released with no charge.

Bulut Akacan is currently on bail awaiting trail for grievous bodily harm due to an incident where Mr. Akacans and his bodyguard where involved in a fight where two individuals were injured.
