The Speaker of Parliament Teberrüken Uluçay said that it’s his biggest wish that the island will reach peace through a comprehensive solution to the Cyprus problem.
Issuing a message as part of the 1st of September World Day of Peace, Uluçay said “such days remind us of the importance of solving the problems through peaceful methods and preventing conflict and tension through the spirit of cooperation and partnership.”
He also stressed that the Turkish Cypriot people preserved its political will for a federal solution which will be based on bi-zonality and the political equality of the two peoples on the island.
Reiterating the Turkish side’s readiness for cooperation on the natural resources in the Eastern Mediterranean, Uluçay said “I hope the Greek Cypriot administration gives up its policy to benefit from the joint richness through unilateral steps and decisions as soon as possible. I hope peaceful days are ahead for Cyprus, Turkey, for our region and the world. I also hope that the World Day of Peace will enable those who pursue policies of tension and conflict to review these intentions and plans and that the spirit of peace will dominate the world.” (BRT)
