Owners of Varosha hotels update their title deeds and make sure no offers were made to them to sell

After TRNC Foreign Ministers Varosha initiative the owners of the hotels situated in the closed town have updated their title deeds as a precaution and explored the possibility of any offer made to them by foreign buyers. .

The Turkish Cypriot Evkaf claims that the land of Varosha belonged to a vakf and could not be transferred n any way and the transfer of the title deeds during the British Colonial era was illegal.

According to Cyprus Mail Owners of tourist resorts located mainly on the Varosha seafront met on Monday in Nicosia in the presence of the so called Famagusta mayor Simos Ioannou.

According to the president of the Cyprus Hotel Association (Pasyxe), Charis Loizides, the meeting was called so that the Pasyxe members could exchange information over recent developments in Varosha, and to clarify whether they had received any offers for the sale of their property.

Regarding recent talk of foreign buyers approaching Greek Cypriot owners of property in Varosha, Loizides said that none present at the meeting tabled any evidence of such actions.

Pasyxe has 34 registered members who own around 50-60 Varosha properties, Loizides said.
