Former President Talat hails the decision on Ozgurguns' immunity

Former President and PM Mehmet Ali Talat has hailed the decision of parliament on lifting the immunity of MP Huseyin Ozgurgun yesterday.

Former President and PM Mehmet Ali Talat has hailed the decision of parliament on lifting the immunity of MP Huseyin Ozgurgun yesterday.

Replying to the questionon Ozgurguns immunity during a TV programme, the Former President said that the decision was exemplary in terms of elevating the quality in political circles in North Cyprus.

Noting that he has not have any personal problem with Huseyin Ozgurgun, Talat stressed that it is within the authority of courts to judge people.

As a result if Ozgurgun is not guilty about the allegations, I am sure that the court will deliver a just decision and no one will forced to sit on the fences anymore Talat said.

Highlighting the importance of National Unity Party (UBP) MPs in favour votes in the processes of lifting up the immunity, Talat has condemned the attempts that tended to evaluate unfavourable votes of UBP MPs as disloyalty to their former leader.

The ball is in the hands of jurisdiction now. If the detailed investigation successfully will be carried out by the court, independently from courts decision, it will be beneficial for political circles and jurisdiction of TRNC Talat stressed.
