The recent decision of UN Security Council concerning the request to returned the properties in Varosha to the legal owners welcomed by the Director General of Evkaf Administration Ibrahim Benter.

Vakiflar (Evkaf) has a history more than 5 centuries in Cyprus. The area called fenced off Varosha also belongs to Vakiflar for more than 5 centuries which was much before the existence of British Administration on the island Benter said.

In a written statement published on Wednesday, Benter also added that Evkaf Administration has welcomed the decision of UN Security Council since the decision for Benter pointed out returning the properties to Evkaf Administration as the legal owner.

UN Security Council decision was a constructive outcome for us. The return of properties in Varosha to Evkaf Administration could be very beneficial to open the fenced off city in the service of public he concluded.
