Speaking in a TV program on Monday, Former Minister of Labor and Social Security and TDP MP Zeki Celer has emphasized that the recent experiences and disputes have clearly indicated the necessity for President Akinci to run again for the Presidential election.

Commenting on the potential candidacy of President Akinci for the upcoming election, TDP MP Celer said that he believed President Akinci had a fruitful period in his term of office and presented Turkish Cypriot community to the world as a side who really work for the reunification in Cyprus.

Responding to the question related with the potential candidacy from Republican Turkish Party (CTP), MP Celer stated that the seat of Presidency was related with the level of international representation within the perspective of federal solution and his party would be respect to the decisions of other political parties.

In relation with recent political discussions, TDP MP Celer said that the military operation of Turkey and upcoming Presidential election have created several disturbances. Concerning the criticisms delivered against President Akinci, Mr.Celer said that the statement of Akinci has been misunderstood by Turkish authorities.

The geo-political concerns of Turkey were well understood by Turkish Cypriot community however the statements made against the identity of Turkish Cypriots have sadden many of us. Setting the relations as two brother countries could be much more constructive for both countries Celer added.
