A joint collaboration protocol to prevent unregistered economy in N. Cyprus has signed between Ministry of Labor and Social Security, Cyprus Turkish Building Contractors Association and Cyprus Turkish Chamber of Industry on Thursday.

In a written public announcement delivered by Ministry of Labor and Social Security, it was declared that the signed protocol aimed to prevent the employment of unregistered workers as well as to increase the supervision mechanism of unregistered workers from one central authority.

In accordance of the signed protocol, the members of Cyprus Turkish Chamber of Industry would be able to issue required work and residence permits of their workers via the services of Cyprus Turkish Building Contractors Association.

In his statement after the protocol ceremony Minister of Labor and Social Security Faiz Sucuoglu said the protocol will provide a substantial support to discipline the unregistered labor force in N. Cyprus. Minister Sucuoglu added that after being able to supervise the unregistered labor force the important amount of economic loss of the state will be prevented.

The Chairman of Cyprus Turkish Chamber of Industry Canan Avunduk expressed his appreciation to sign a protocol with the state. He also pointed out the importance of NGO-State collaboration in respect to solve the existent problems in N. Cyprus. The Chairman Avunduk added that the supervision of the unregistered workers will be much easier due to the database that will be constituted in accordance of the protocol.
