The leader of main opposition party Tufan Erhurman said the privilege of Turkish Cypriot community should be based on an approach that aimed to search for alternatives about how to strengthen Turkish Cypriot identity under every condition.

Speaking in a conference titled Today and Future of Turkish Cypriots organized by Academic Personnel Union (DA-SEN) at Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), former Prime Minister Erhurman touched upon the ongoing concerns of Turkish Cypriot community about carrying their identity to the future.

Noting on the difficulties to survive within such identity concerns, Erhurman emphasized that rather than re-producing nothing can happen in N. Cyprus motto, the privilege of Turkish Cypriot community should focus on the ways to search every possibility to elevate the subject of Turkish Cypriots in Cyprus.

Reminding his partys three phased vision on the future of Turkish Cypriots, Republican Turkish Party (CTP) leader Tufan Erhurman mentioned that to reach a comprehensive settlement, to focus on the Trust building measures in a condition that not caused from Turkish Cypriot side and constituting a proactive foreign policy in respect to reach a link with international law as well as international societies are the privileges set by his party.

CTP leader Erhurman also commented on the existent foreign policy of the coalition government in his statements.

The existent foreign policy of coalition government expected from Greek Cypriot leader Anastasiadis who declared having difficulties to even confirm political equality of Turkish Cypriots to recognize TRNC. Not enough, the coalition government also expect five UN Permanent Representative to recognize TRNC as well as other 28 EU member countries Erhurman said.

Erhurman also added that the existent foreign policy holds substantial conflicts in recent political conjecture and an insistence on such a foreign policy unavoidably directs Turkish Cypriots into an unpredictable conditions.
