Cyprus Turkish Chamber of Industry (KTSO) issued a call to the authorities of Greek Cypriot Administration to withdraw the recent amendments on Green line regulation.

In a public statement published by the association, the representatives expressed their concerns over the recent amendments of Greek Cypriot authorities on Green Line regulation despite the positive steps taken by Turkish Cypriot side in building confidence between opposing sides.

Cyprus Turkish Chamber of Industry evaluates the recent amendment decision of Greek Cypriot Administration on Green line regulation as an attempt to complicate the travel of Greek Cypriots and other nationals to N. Cyprus. We would like to condemn the decision and strongly believed that this decision should be withdrawn. KTSO stated in the public statement.

Pointing out to the potential dangers particularly on economic circles, the representatives of the association emphasized that such an ethnic oriented regulations would not provide any additional benefit to the Greek and Turkish Cypriot communities in Cyprus.

The Green Line regulation that officially confirmed by the EU should not be attached with such restrictions. In addition, an attempt to implement a travel ban certainly will damage the efforts of opposing sides to build a confidence measures in respect to reach a comprehensive settlement in Cyprus.
