TDP leader questions the reliability of cost of living index

The leader of Communal Democracy Party (TDP) Cemal Ozyigit said in his comments on announced cost of living index that declared in minus two months in a row “it is really hard to believe the realibility of the declared numbers."

The leader of Communal Democracy Party (TDP) Cemal Ozyigit said in his comments on announced cost of living index that declared in minus two months in a row “it is really hard to believe the realibility of the declared numbers."

After the cost of living ratio announced by the officials that calculated in minus numbers despite the increasing prices throughout the country, Former Minister of Education Ozyigit said there is an obvious difference between the everyday realities and announced numbers in the country.

“It was really hard to believe on the cost of living index declared by the officials. It was well understood that the announced numbers have been attempting to fabricate with the cost of living ratio determined earlier by the officials” Ozyigit said.

Arguing that the purchasing power of large portion of the society decreasing with the constant increase of cost of living in N. Cyprus, TDP leader argued that the announcement of minus in cost of living index implemented by the officials in purpose to not reflect the required increase to the salaries of the workers.

TDP leader Cemal Ozyigit also pointed out the impossibility to explain the cost of living index that indicated a decrease in N. Cyprus two months in a row while Turkey’s cost of living index was increasing.
