The Chairman of Federation of Turkish Cypriot Workers’ Union (Türk-Sen) Arslan Bicakli questioned the recent decision of coalition government that would permit the activation of Local Employment fund for different purposes in his statement published on Friday.

Reminding that the Local Employment fund established under the aim to provide contribution for the young Turkish Cypriots in respect to prevent their potential leave from the island due to the poor working conditions, Chairman Bicakli argued that the government officials aimed to utilize the fund for different purposes.

Chairman of Turk-Sen Arslan Bicakli also reminded that the fund has been supporting 60.000 workers in N. Cyprus and added that Council of Ministers did not even considered to consult with the officials of Reserve Fund before their decision.

Arguing that the Council of Ministers decision over changing the related article in the law clearly revealed the tendency of the government representatives, Chairman Bicakli has accused coalition government for attempting to seize the fund without any legal ground.

“We would like to announced that Turk-Sen is strictly against for the implementation of this decision” Bicakli said.

In his written statement, Chairman Bicakli issued a call to the coalition government officials to withdraw their decision and added that if the coalition government tends to implement this decision, the union will use every legal right to prevent the activation of the fund for different purposes.
