President Akıncı asks Spehar to emphasize political equality in UN report

President Mustafa Akıncı asked UN Cyprus Special Representative Elizabeth Spehar to reflect the political gains from Berlin talks especially political equality between two sides in a report that will be presented to UN Security Council in the coming days.

President Mustafa Akıncı asked UN Cyprus Special Representative Elizabeth Spehar to reflect the political gains from Berlin talks especially political equality between two sides in a report that will be presented to UN Security Council in the coming days.

President Mustafa Akıncı has met with UN Secretary Representative in Cyprus and Head of the UN Peacekeeping Force (UNFICYP) Elizabeth Spehar on Thursday.

In a written statement published by Presidency concerning the meeting, it was stated that President Mustafa Akıncı reminded UN Special Representative that the potential resolution of Cyprus problem has become even more urgent in the face of the recent developments, adding that the settlement in Cyprus problem has turned into a necessity for the all region.

Reminding the Turkish Cypriot representatives’ previous offer to Greek Cypriot Administration about the hydrocarbon issue, President Akıncı emphasized the necessity of a dialogue for the resolution of the conflict in East Med in a meeting held with UN Special Representative.
