Deputy Prime Minister Foreign Minister Kudret Özersay reminded that inventory work had been launched for the opening of the closed city of Maraş and expressed his full belief that Maraş could be opened under the control of the Turkish Cypriot administration.

Speaking during a television program, Özersay said the opening of Maraş was not a written theory anymore adding that this will be realized step by step.

Stressing the need for the Turkish Cypriot people and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to have a foreign policy other than the Cyprus issue, he said there was a need for new and creative policies which will show the existence of the TRNC in the Eastern Mediterranean and enable it to become a regional actor.

On the Cyprus issue, Özersay stated that the conditions for a federal solution did not exist in Cyprus adding that there was no trust and common vision between the two sides.
