Prime Minister Ersin Tatar condemned the Khojaly massacre in an interview he gave to Azerbaijani television on the 28th anniversary of the massacre.

Tatar said that the Khojaly massacre was a disgraceful act against humankind and had gone down in history as a black stain.

He also said statements made to the press after the incident revealed that innocent people had been killed by the Armenians just for being Azeri Turks.

Tatar added that this was plainly a massacre carried out against the Turkish race.

“Dear Azerbaijani brothers and sisters, I am addressing you as a Prime Minister of a country that has experienced similar atrocities.
We were attacked just for being Turkish Cypriots and struggled for years to prevent our country from becoming a Greek island. I would like to say that the Turkish Cypriot people who endured similar incidents share your pain. We will never forget this inhuman act or let it be forgotten” the Prime Minister said in his message.
