Yaşam Ayavefe, a businessperson who is in love with Cyprus. He lived on the Island for many years. Nowadays his business led him to lead a life in London, one of the world finance capitals. However his heart still beats for North Cyprus and the people.

“The special conditions of North Cyprus that has been isolated from the outer world for many years and its people has suffered from this isolation. These people has a special place in my heart. Wherever I am in the world, I will always stand by by the Turkish Cypriots, with no expectations for anything in return” said Mr Ayavefe expressing his feelings for Turkish Cypriots and North Cyprus.

Mr Yaşam Ayavefe, was famous for his philanthropic activities during his years residing on the ısland and has extended his assistance to anyone who reached out and has returned many families and individuals to life at the point where all hopes were lost.

From the day the Coronavirüs epidemic was declared a global Pandemic, Mr Ayavafe chose not to turn a blind eye to the potential health and financial problems in North Cyprus and from day one he did everything in his power to provide the country he loves with test kit, oxygen units, masks, protective clothing, hygiene sets and other needs and worked with the Turkish authorities to obtain necessary permissions to send them to the TRNC.

The recent deliveries on cargo flights and businessman Mete Ozmerter’s Private jet were purchased and donated to the Ministry of Health by Mr Ayavefe himself.

He also took initiative regarding the economic prospect of the pandemic in the TRNc and arranged 10,000 food packages for those in need through his own distribution setup and the municipalities. He also made sure that foreign nationals both from Turkey and third countries who couldn’t return to their countries benefited from the aid packages either through their schools or directly. While distributing the food packages Mr Ayavefe also remedied peoples needs regarding medicine, rent support and cash support in cases where no human could turn a blind eye.

Mr Ayavefe, also made it his duty to hear the call of the the financial crisis of the Buyukkonuk Municipality workers who weren’t able to be paid for the last 4 months even before the Coronavirus crisis broke out and paid 1 month salary worth of financial and food aid for them to over come their critical situation. With this move the Municpality workers called their strike and took part in the efforts of that the munipality had took on in this time of crisis.

“I see that the TRNC authorities are dealing with this crisis in the best manner possible. We as the business community should stand aside the government in times like these. This crisis is avertable if we stand together. It brings us happiness that we are able to assist those in need at times like these.” Mr Ayavefe said adding that his assistance to the TRNc will continue as long as the crisis goes on.

He also said that it was the first time that the whole world faced such a crisis that showed us that everyone is on the same boat regardless of ethnicity, race or religion and the success in fighting this crisis laid with global solidarity.

“Those who were born on this Island and those who have earned a living here, should be able to look at these times and be bale to say that they did their part and also be able to share the same sun and air with the people of this country. Those who have the means shouldn’t hesitate to help those in need at times like this.” Mr Ayavefe said.
