Greek Cyprus plays wimpy legality card on consulate opening

The Greek Cypriot Government Spokesman Prodromos Prodroumou in a reaction to the news on the opening of a new Turkish Consulate General with the well known however internationally slipping legality card.

The Greek Cypriot Government Spokesman Prodromos Prodroumou in a reacted to the news announced by the Turkish Foreign Secretary Mevlt avuolu to open a Turkish Consulate General in Famagusta in order to ease the back log of work carried out at the Turkish Embassy in Lefkoa and serve the Turkish Nationals in the Famagusta, Karpaz region.
Mr. Prodromous responded to the tweet posted by Cavuolu, saying that consulates are opened on the basis of international law describing the move as illegal.
avuolu made the announcement on Sunday, during the second day of his three-day visit to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus where he attended a gathering of a group of mostly dual citizens of both TRNC and Turkey living in the Yeni Erenky region.
Citing avuolus tweet, Prodromou wrote: A consulate is being established by countries who consult each other and on the basis of international law playing the well known however internationally slipping legality card that Turkey in order to open a consulate General in Cyprus is should have consulted with the Greek Cypriot Administration rather than the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
