President Mustafa Akıncı said that a Byzantine flag being hung up at a Mosque in the Larnaka region should not be taken lightly.

The President via his social media account said that the head of the Religious Affairs Department Talip Atalay had informed him of the developments and noted that obviously there are people who rely on provocation. After the arson attempt of the mosque in Limassol this action should not be underestimated and the Greek Cypriot administration should act swiftly and catch the perpetrators.

On the 1st of June 3 Molotov cocktails were thrown at the Köprülü Mosque in the Limassol region and just a few days ago a Byzantine flag was hung up at the Tuzla Mosque in the Larnaka region in South Cyprus.
