LDS: I am a widow I was recently taken to the over-30.s Singles Dance.Most men my age are like parking spaces?
if they are near and accessible - they are taken. I know I don't want to get remarried, and that I think it was Spencer W. Kimball who counselled that no lady need marry one not worthy of her for fear of not achieving blessings in Heaven, but my young daughter 1) wants me to remarry, and 2) needs a preisthood holder's guidance. I am stuck between a rock and a hard place. What do you think I should do if I am taken to another Singles event? It felt reminiscient of a meat market.

If you don't want to go - don't. There are LDS dating online things - singles events, etc - only if you are ready - your daughter will be fine.
I hated the whole single's thing - i does feel like a meat (Meet) market. I guess what I might do would be to ask to be "set up" with people to meet others without that whole feeling that can happen or go and just go for the sake of going. I snwore I would never get involved in singles - and ended up meeting my husband there. (Famous last words, eh?)
As for your daughter and her wants and needs - certainly understandable - have you confided in your home teacher? Is there someone in your ward with girls your daughter's ages that might be willing to mentor her in the meantime. (The reason I ask is that my DH was assigned a family that has girls that are the same age as our girls and their dad is out of town a lot - we include those girls with us sometimes so that they have the influence of a priesthood holder - and give the mom a break too!)
Just a few thoughts - and good luck - it's a real meet market!
